One Monster’s Story:
Meet Splork, the KidCentered Mascot
Making friends is easy for me now, but it wasn’t always that way. I used to be scared a lot, and I was always getting into trouble and driving my parents crazy. I didn’t mean to, but some days, it seemed that no matter what I did, I just upset everyone around me, including myself.
Then, one day, I did something really, really naughty. I didn’t mean to, but it happened anyway, and because of me, my little pet got very, very hurt. It really scared me, and I knew I had to change something, and fast.
That’s when mom got me a KidCentered.com Lifetime membership. I could use my headphones and listen to any topic I wanted to — and most of the time, she let me pick.
At first, I wasn’t sure it would really work. I mean, it just sounds like someone talking, with some music playing in the background. But then I started to notice some good stuff happening. I wasn’t getting into trouble, hardly ever. I was smiling a lot more. I stopped biting my claws and I was even feeling a lot better when I woke up in the morning. I was getting better grades in school, and my school work didn’t seem as hard anymore. Other monsters wanted to play with me and be my friend, and I started to actually like being me.
In fact, me and my family were so happy about the changes in me that we wrote a letter to KidCentered and guess what? They asked me to be their mascot. Can you believe that? Me! Now I get to help others to make some changes and to like being themselves. It’s the coolest job in the Universe.
I love listening to my MindTime™ audios from KidCentered, and I’m always excited when a new audio comes out. I might even say it’s the best change I ever made.
Sure, every once in awhile I still do something naughty, or I make a mistake or two. But I don’t fall apart anymore when that happens, and it doesn’t drive my parents crazy. We talk about what happened, and how we could do better next time. And no matter what, it’s all OK. I still like being me, and maybe that’s the best part of all.
So what about you? What’s your story? What would you like to change with a little help from KidCentered?
C’mon. Let’s be friends and listen to a MindTime™ together. (smile)
